Thanks guys for all the comments ^^

@werekitty13: socially, (most) canine species tuck their tails to appear smaller and less of a threatening target. But it's also just sort of a general response, like if I see a spider I automatically scream even though screaming doesn't help me in any way xD
Although I also imagine it helps ensure their tail (/hindquarters) isn't grabbed or hurt. I know that some dog breeds have docked tails so that there's less that can be torn off or injured in a fight or struggle.

Why do dogs run with their tails in their legs like that? Wouldn't it get caught in their legs and make them trip? I know they're scared, but it doesn't make sense...

Hmm, looks like those Deer have more to them than meets the eye,
especially since a pack of coyotes, a wolf and a house cat can't fight them...
I wonder what is so special about them?

@Werekitty it's a sign of fear. It wouldn't trip them because the tail will essentially wrap around their leg and just move with the leg as they run or cower or whatever.

aww that was kinda cute, him rescuing her ^^
and i liked the "tail btwn legs" touch, it shows just how scared they are without having to say "they're scared"

They would much rather have their tails whip their feet than being caught in somebody's mouth.
